Diagnosing and Accommodating Pandemic Effects on Ongoing Research
Presenter: Steve Gregorich, PhD - UCSF DOM, Division of General Internal Medicine
Do you have ongoing work related to implementation science that you would be interested in getting feedback on? Have you learned about a new implementation science method and want to share it with others?
We are scheduling presentations for the Implementation Science Interest Group (ISIG meetings). These meetings will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 AM PT on the third Wednesdays of each month.
To sign up for any free spot for the WIP or journal club session, please complete this form.
Presentations can vary in structure. See the archive for previous topics.
An example of a 90-minute structure with a single topic is below:
Work in progress and journal club speakers will be announced here. Meetings are subject to change. Please check back regularly for updates.
For any further questions or communications regarding the CFAR ISWG, please reach out to Joseph Watabe.

Presenters will provide an overview of appropriate study designs for COVID intervention evaluations as well as how/whether to adapt these designs (both with respect to data collection and analysis) that were conceived for non-COVID research in response to the COVID-19 pandemic or other disruptions. Designs that will be discussed include: pre/post and interrupted time series, stepped wedge, SMART designs, preference designs, and others that focus on implementation.
Speakers: Margaret Handley, Starley Shade, Jean Digitale, and Kristefer Stojanovski
This panel will focus on research methods for moving platforms, and mid-study moves to digital implementation. Topics discussed will include: dealing with interruptions in behavioral trials with longitudinal collection of quantitative data, including biomarkers; changes in data collection / analytic techniques; analytic issues associated with technology; consideration of alternative research questions and corresponding modeling approaches; addressing analytical issues about study completion and exposure. (Co-sponsored by CAPS Methods Core)
This panel will discuss ethical implications of adapting a trial mid-project to the changing realities of the COVID-19 era.
