Biography

I am engaged in clinical translational research on acute and early HIV infection. My work is based in the UCSF Options cohort, located at SFGH. I am investigating the epidemiology and consequences of transmitted HIV-1 drug resistance. I am also investigating the role of systemic inflammation in acute/early HIV, aiming to assess whether it has consequences for downstream success of antiretroviral therapy. I am also interested in the evolving clinical debate about the optimal timing for initiating antiretroviral therapy.
