Biography
My professional/research interest is in using cardiac imaging and translational/systems biology approaches to elucidate different mechanisms of cardioprotection among persons with HIV in global settings. Specifically I am interested in why the relationships between HIV/atherosclerosis and traditional risk factors/atherosclerosis is different in different regions; e.g., early data from East Africa show that these populations may be protected against atherosclerosis. Ultimately I want to identify novel biochemical pathways identified in such “protected” populations that can serve as treatment targets for other high-risk populations across the world.
