Abstract

Objective: To establish the feasibility and acceptability of the use two social networking technologies (Facebook and Teleplace) for improving adherence to antiretroviral (ARV) therapy and treatment engagement in young Black HIV+ individuals.

Design: We will conduct a pilot study using qualitative and descriptive methods. For Teleplace, we will assess the feasibility by conducting three virtual group workshops using the Information, Motivation, and Behavioral Skills model. Acceptability will be determined by qualitative interviews with participants. For the Facebook intervention, feasibility will be evaluated by our ability to develop a Facebook HIV group page and acceptability will be assessed via qualitative interviews with participants.

Duration of study: The duration of our study will be one year. Statistical analysis of data: We will use Transana analytic software for qualitative analysis of data.
