The UCSF-Bay Area CFAR (Center for AIDS Research), funded by NIH since 1987, began its 35th year in September. Our Director, Monica Gandhi, MD, MPH, and the Directors and Leadership of our five funded Cores and two Scientific Working Groups will talk about new themes, aims, and plans for CFAR’s next five years. We’ll highlight ongoing and new CFAR core services and programs + how we can support you and your research!
Dr. Shoptaw is Executive Director of the Center for Behavioral & Addiction Medicine (CBAM) and Center Director of the Center for HIV Identification, Prevention, and Treatment Services (CHIPTS). He is a licensed psychologist. He is also Professor and Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Family Medicine and Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at UCLA. As well as an Honorary Professor at the University of Cape Town. For over 25 years.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of NIAID/NIH, will no longer be speaking at the inaugural CFAR seminar. We hope to reschedule and have Dr. Fauci as a guest speaker in the near future.
