Biography
My research interests lie in biomarkers of tuberculosis (TB) disease in the presence and/or absence of HIV infection. HIV infection increases the risk of progression to TB disease by up to 18 times relative to HIV uninfected persons. My research focusses on the pathogenesis and underlying mechanisms of TB progression in the presence and absence of HIV infection. We are hoping to provide a better understanding of the biology of TB progression and identifying correlates of protection and risks from TB disease especially in the presence of HIV infection.
