Ujjwal Rathore’s doctoral work focused on protein engineering and HIV vaccine design in Prof. Raghavan Varadarajan’s lab at Molecular Biophysics Unit, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (India). Ujjwal is currently a postdoctoral scholar in Alexander Marson’s laboratory at the Gladstone-UCSF Institute of Genomic Immunology. He is interested in studying host-virus interactions with a focus on HIV latency. Ujjwal has developed a high-throughput CRISPR-Cas9 genome-editing platform to identify, characterize, and validate the function of latency regulating host factors in primary human T cells. His primary goal is to accelerate target identification for new drugs to eliminate or perturb the latent reservoir and facilitate the search for an HIV cure regimen.
