Biography

Sebastian Linnemayr is a senior economist at the RAND Corporation and a professor at the Pardee RAND Graduate School. His current research focuses on the use of economic incentives and the application of insights from behavioral economics to improve complex, chronic health behaviors. In his research, he aims to use very small or non-monetary incentives in a way that can be applied even in severely resource-limited settings, which often involves the use of mobile health technology as a low-cost way to reach large numbers of people in need. He travels frequently to Uganda where he is implementing several interventions funded by the National Institutes of Health to increase medication adherence among people living with HIV. Linnemayr joined RAND after completing his position as postdoctoral research fellow at the Harvard School of Public Health.
