Matt is currently a Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. Following Chief Residency, he will begin a fellowship in HIV medicine in the Division of HIV, Infectious Disease, and Global Medicine. His research focuses on improving engagement in HIV care among vulnerable populations, both globally and locally.
Matt grew up in Houston, TX. He attended Texas A&M University for his undergraduate studies, followed by medical school at UCSF. Since 2009, he has worked with Organic Health Response, a community-based organization in western Kenya, to develop and evaluate strategies to improve social support for HIV care. During medical school, he was a Doris Duke International Clinical Research Fellow, and also completed UCSF’s Advanced Training in Clinical Research certificate program. Matt completed his residency in internal medicine through UCSF’s primary care track at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital.
