Research Scientist, University of Monash, Australia.  Highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) is not curative as viral replication resumes upon HAART cessation. There is an urgent need to define the reservoir that exists and eliminate it. We propose to define the role of macrophages in viral latency, and test a novel approach to clear persistently infected macrophages.
