Dr. Annesa Flentje is a clinical psychologist focusing on the ways in which sexual minority stress, or stressors related to sexual and gender minority status such as discrimination and stigma, can impact health outcomes among sexual and gender minority individuals. At present, Dr. Flentje is completing a K23 Career Development Award to examine the relationship between sexual minority stressors and the activation of inflammatory pathways, measured through gene expression, among HIV positive sexual minority men. Dr. Flentje is also developing a clinical intervention targeting sexual minority stress among sexual minority men infected with HIV.

Dr. Flentje is Associate Director and UCSF Site Director of The PRIDE Study, a national longitudinal cohort study of sexual and gender minority individuals.
