Epidemiology, Health Disparities, Public Health HIV Care Engagement and Retention in Care
Abstract
People living with HIV with criminal justice involvement are particularly vulnerable population, with poor pre-release and post-release HIV care cascade outcomes and diverse non-HIV social services engagement. Hence, they are likely to be disproportionately impacted by shelter-in-place orders, reduced incarceration rates and criminal justice reform. In the context of shelter-in-place orders and drastic changes in criminal justice policy in San Francisco, CA, we propose an evaluation to understand the changes in HIV care and social services engagement for people with criminal justice involvement in order identify gaps in care and in order to redeploy resources necessary to address unmet needs.
