Biography
Sushama Telwatte is an Instructor at the SF Veteran Affairs Medical Center and UCSF. She completed her PhD at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, and her postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. Steven Yukl. Her research centers on understanding the mechanisms underlying HIV latency in tissues.
Her current work focuses on validating and optimizing single-cell multiplex qRT-PCR and single-cell RNAseq approaches to evaluate cellular and HIV transcriptomes in cells from HIV-infected individuals on suppressive antiretroviral treatment. She has a particular interest in adapting and applying innovative technologies to answer key mechanistic questions.
