FY2022 EHE Supplements

The UCSF-Bay Area Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) and the UCSF Center for AIDS Prevention Studies (CAPS) announce the availability of supplement funding in support of the Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America (EHE) Initiative, through the FY2022 EHE CFAR/ARC Supplement Announcement. See the full announcement for more information. Research topics are as follows:

1. Planning projects to support participatory data science research efforts toward Ending the HIV Epidemic in the United States (up to $200,000 for up to 1 year)
2. Equity-focused approaches to reduce HIV-related health disparities (up to $200,000 for up to 2 years - corrected from 1 year)
3. Strategic alliances across jurisdictions to reach EHE goals through implementation research (up to $250,000 for up to 1 year)
4. Applying behavioral economic approaches to design implementation strategies for HIV testing, prevention, and care (up to $200,000 for up to 1 year)
5. Implementation Strategies to Facilitating a Status Neutral Approach to HIV Prevention and Treatment (up to $200,000 for up to 1 year)
6. New EHE CFAR/ARC Implementation Science Consultation Hubs (up to $250,000 for up to 1 year)

Each center is limited to submitting a maximum of 6 applications (five for topics 1-5; one for topic 6); therefore, we are conducting an internal competition to determine which applications will go forward for submission to the NIH. Funding

Supplement awards are for up to one year with maximum funding per application as listed above in Direct Costs. Awards will be made as supplements to the CFAR/CAPS grants.

Concept Proposal Application Process

To apply for this opportunity, please do the following:

1. PLEASE SUBMIT CONCEPT PROPOSALS ELECTRONICALLY by completing the online form and attaching ONE FILE (MS Word or Adobe PDF) that includes the following two components by 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2022 *Deadline Extended*:
   1. Concept proposal (1-2 pages, Arial 11 font or equivalent) briefly addressing the following:
      1. Background and rationale for the proposal
      2. Activities to be undertaken
      3. Expected outcome of these activities (value-added)
      4. Expected follow-up plan upon completion of the project
      5. A description of how the supplement and follow-up plan are expected to achieve this outcome.
      6. If you are a current EHE awardee, please provide a brief description of progress made to date.
         • Most importantly, clearly indicate how the proposed research activities are expected to lead to the development of stated goals. 
         • References cited do not count towards the one page limit (and are not required).
         • ​Applicants are strongly encouraged to review the review criteria listed in the full announcement.
   2. NIH-formatted Biosketch of Project Director. 

Please note that the webform will not request budgetary details, but we ask that investigators be sure that the aims of their proposals can be achieved with the given budget. Refer to the NIH Grants Policy Statement regarding allowable and unallowable costs. Please note that subcontract indirect costs are allowable and do not count towards the direct cost limit. After selection of the finalists (notified no later than February 23), budget and other business elements are due are due by 9a Monday, March 28, and research plan must be final by 9a Wednesday, March 30. Full applications will be submitted to NIH by the UCSF-Bay Area CFAR or the UCSF Center for AIDS Prevention Studies.
