Catherine Pearson is an internal medicine physician and current fellow of Infectious Diseases at UCSF. Her research interests include HIV care cascade, linkage to care, and improving local and regional disparities in HIV prevention, screening, and care. Her previous research activities include a year-long fellowship from Rhode Island Sea Grant studying the effects of environmental policies on community health in the commercial fishing industry of southern New England, qualitative and quantitative assessments of short-term medical services to rural communities in Honduras, and a review of vaccine-preventable disease in complex health emergencies. She has also worked with the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation in Geneva.
She has provided direct medical care in numerous medically underserved communities in rural Western Virginia,Honduras, Botswana. Prior to fellowship, she was a primary care physician in Oakland, CA. She graduated from Brown University, received her M.D. from the Medical College of Virginia of Virginia Commonwealth University, and completed Internal Medicine Residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where she was also chief of the Penn Refugee Clinic.
