Interrupted Time Series Case Study: Evaluating Legislation to Support Pharmacy-Prescribed PrEP in California
MJ Heise, PhD

Join us for the (re)launch of the UCSF CFAR Implementation Science Working Group (ISWG)!

Led by Drs. Matt Spinelli and Jennifer Velloza, the ISWG will help to foster a community of practice in Implementation Science through regular Works-In Progress sessions, bi-monthly Journal Clubs, and skills building workshops. Future events will be advertised in the monthly AIDS Research News and through the ISWG listserv (sign up here!)

Our first session will feature MJ Heise, PhD, who will present a case study on the use of interrupted time series analyses. Dr. Heise will share insights from an evaluation of California Senate Bill 159, legislation designed to expand access to PrEP by enabling pharmacist PrEP prescribing. This will be followed by a Q&A where participants can discuss analytical challenges with interrupted time series analyses.

In the last 20 minutes of the session, participants are encouraged to bring their own coding challenges for an interactive discussion with Dr. Heise. The technical focus will be on applications in the R programming language, with time dedicated to practical problem-solving and collaborative learning. However, concepts discussed will be applicable to any programming language.

This session will provide a unique opportunity to see implementation science methods in action, while also building hands-on analytic skills in a supportive environment.
