The morning will include an applied session on Storytelling for Scientists as a method of communicating about your work and who you are. We will also offer brief videography services to each participant so that you can have a short video to use on your UCSF profile and other social media. Aaron Tabacco, PhD, UCSF Department of Medicine Director of Staff Experience, will be the main speaker/facilitator for this session. 

In the afternoon, we’ll host a specific aims lightning-rounds. Attendees are welcome to submit 1-page specific aims for feedback or just participate in the session as a reviewer. 

Brief Program:

9-12 pm Storytelling Workshop – Presenter Aaron Tabacco

  • Define the elements and process of storytelling that moves people, with a focus on brevity, power, clarity, and impact;
  • Videography:  1-minute videos of self-presentation will be recorded onsite by a video tech to help you market your skills

12-1 pm – Lunch 

1-3 pm  Specific Aims Review 

The retreat will be followed by a 3-5 pm JFAR-Hosted Networking Event – reach out to Rebecca Abelman, Caravella McCuistian, and Joe Watabe for further details on the JFAR event.
