Abstract

This study proposes a formative qualitative investigation using focus group discussions and interviews with adult women, healthcare providers, and local stakeholders in two Florida counties with high HIV incidence. The goal is to understand communication strategies and clinical considerations related to the delivery of twice-annual injectable HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) within routine preventative healthcare visits. A regionally based advisory group will inform data collection priorities. The study aims to: (1) explore patient perspectives on receiving information about PrEP during preventative health visits, and (2) identify implementation challenges and recommendations from preventative healthcare providers. The project will generate preliminary data to inform a future implementation science intervention that aligns PrEP delivery with established women’s preventative healthcare protocols, enhancing the efficiency and uptake of HIV prevention within those settings.
