Biography

Judd F. Hultquist is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University, where he also serves as the Director of the Emerging and Re-Emerging Pathogens Program and as Associate Director of the Center for Pathogen Genomics and Microbial Evolution. The Hultquist lab uses a combination of wet and dry lab approaches to understand how molecular diversity at the host-pathogen interface drives differences in disease pathogenesis, therapeutic efficacy, and patient outcomes. Major efforts in the lab currently include translational research on SARS-CoV-2 and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) to better understand the influence of viral genetic diversity on pathogenesis and treatment outcome, as well as molecular virology research on Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) to better understand the role of host-pathogen interactions during active replication and latency. The goal of this work is to ultimately strengthen the bridge from big data to targeted discovery to clinical application for the development of personalized, host-driven therapies and the advancement of human health.
