Current Awardees Pilot AwardsThe Pilot Award Program is aimed toward junior investigators (assistant faculty, three years or less), and senior postdoctoral fellows with translational, clinical and/or behavioral-epidemiological research interests who have an innovative HIV research idea; or those seeking money to initiate a project; or to gather preliminary data and findings leading to a future grant effort. Basic Science AwardsThe Basic Scientist Award Program provides funding for junior or senior fellows engaged in laboratory based HIV/AIDS basic science research, or faculty (all levels) moving from non-HIV into HIV/AIDS basic science laboratory research, who are seeking seed money to get a project started; or to gather preliminary data and findings for a future grant effort. Mentored Scientist AwardsThe Mentored Scientist Award Program is aimed toward postdoctoral or clinical fellows in training with backgrounds in clinical, basic, and/or behavioral-epidemiological research undertaking larger translational HIV research projects under the tutelage of a mentor. Applicants for this award must indicate a mentor(s) who will commit to guiding the applicant through the duration of the proposed project. Award amount: $40,000 in direct costs. International Scientist Training ProgramInternational Mentored Scientist Award (funded by CFAR) seeks to provide opportunities to junior foreign scientists to compete for career-development funds. Project proposals should be geared toward the interests of the applicant (clinical, basic, and/or behavioral-epidemiological research) and focus on HIV/AIDS research in the investigator's home country. Recipients of these awards are mentored throughout the project period by a UCSF faculty mentor. Award amount: $25,000 in direct costs.
