Symposium Focus

This two-day symposium will examine antiretroviral therapy (ART) from the research clinician's perspective, including novel applications of ART in patient settings, new data on early infection and transmission of resistance, and chemokine receptor biology in the context of patient therapy. The symposium also aims to foster and facilititate novel, multidisciplinary research collaborations between basic science investigators and clinicians.

    Registration for this event is required. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged due to the capacity. open for this event. As with previous UCSF-GIVI CFAR Symposia, the $35 fee is used to cover the cost of the attendees meals and registration services. Enrolled UCSF students are always admitted without charge, but pre-registration is be required and students will need to present a current ID when checking in.

    Symposium registrants interested in also attending the International Research Workshop: "Conducting HIV Research in Resource Poor Countries (RPCs)" the preceeding day (Tuesday, January 11,) can register for the symposium plus the workshop at a discount. The fee for both events is $50. To register for both events, please check the joint event payment box on page two of the symposium registration form.

    Transportation and Parking

    The J. David Gladstone Institutes research facility can be reached via the UCSF intra-campus shuttle or public transportation (MUNI's 22-Fillmore or 15-Third St/City College). For details on times and cross-city or connecting routes to the two MUNI lines, please contact the San Francisco Municipal Railway (MUNI) at (415) 673-MUNI. UCSF shuttles to Mission Bay operate from Parnassus and SF General. Additionally, a shuttle operates between the Powell St. BART station and Mission Bay during the morning and afternoon commutes. The most current campus shuttle time/route schedule can be viewed here.

    Parking is also available (lot and streetside). Parking lots around the campus are currently unattended so parking discount vouchers usually provided to registrants are unavailable this year. Side streets are residential-restricted (permitted) or metered, so it is not recommended for attendees.
