CENTER CORES

UCSF-GIVI Center for AIDS Research

About Immunology Core

The Immunology Core provides sophisticated immunology assays and expert consultation and educational opportunities to the HIV research community in San Francisco. The core emphasizes immunology support for innovative translational studies to improve the prevention or management of HIV disease and its complications. Because the number of studies that include sophisticated immunologic endpoints has increased rapidly (especially since the advent of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART)), these services are essential to many highly innovative translational research studies.

Core Faculty

Programs

The UCSF-GIVI CFAR Immunology Core is a key component of the General Clinical Research Centers at UCSF. It participates in the mentorship and training of postdocs and junior investigators in immunology research.
This effort also includes a program mission to stimulate the inclusion of immunology research within our Center through consultations and educational initiatives that inform members of recent advances in HIV immunology.

Services

The following services are available from the Immunology Core.

  • Ki-67 immunophenotyping
  • NK cell function and lymphoproliferation by flow cytometry
  • Intracellular cytokine flow cytometric assays of CD4+ and CD8+ responses to HIV-1 Env, Pol, and Nef.

Please contact the core director or associate core director for additional information.
