Clinical and Population Sciences Core

The Clinical and Population Sciences Core provides basic science and clinical investigators access to specimens and data from clinically well-characterized human subjects. It also seeks to stimulate and support the design and implementation of innovative translational clinical studies.
Services
The Core Directors are available for consultation on all aspects of trial design, management, and analysis. Specimens from local Core-managed cohorts are stored with the Specimen Banking Core.
Research
The Core participates in a wide variety of projects ranging from the pathogenesis of HIV transmission to treatment of infected patients, both in the domestic and international arenas. The Core manages and/or supports several large clinical cohorts in the San Francisco Bay Area and in Uganda.
Education
The Core offers training in clinical research methods for postdoctoral and junior faculty at the discretion of the Core Directors. Senior faculty are also very active with CFAR's mentorship program.
